More local Greens?
East of England Greens – we are also part of Eastern Region which
comprises the counties of Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire,
Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire. In total this represents over forty
local authority areas and in most of these, there’s a local Green
Party. In May 2019 we secured our greatest victory to date in the
region when Catherine Rowett was elected as the first Green Party MEP
for the east of England. The Green Party won in total 7 MEPs in the
European Parliament election.
Norwich Green Party – is one of the most active groups in the country.
Norwich has the largest group of Green Councillors in the UK with 14
city councillors and 4 county councillors who work all year round to
listen to residents and support local communities.
Green Party – combining us all is the Green Party, also known as
simply the Greens, a green, left-wing political party in England and
Wales. Headquartered in London, its co-leaders have been Siân Berry
and Jonathan Bartley since September 2018, with currently one MP,
Caroline Lucas.
Association of Green Councillors (AGC) is an independent and
autonomous network of around 600 elected Green Party Councillors from
every level of local government in England and Wales. Greens hold 353
seats on 123 principal authority councils in England and Wales and
form part of the ruling administration in 18 Principal authority
councils.

Introducing your local Greens
Halesworth Greens are working towards a fair and sustainable society,
through campaigning on Green Party issues and by getting Green
candidates elected to both East Suffolk District Council and Suffolk
County Council.
We are an active group in Halesworth, and part of the well established
Waveney Green Party. Town councillor Annette Dunning recently joined
the Green Party and will be aiding our campaigns for issues important
to Halesworth and surrounding villages.
Current projects include backing TerraCycle local collection events,
examining re-wilding opportunities in the area, improving the local
cycling network, and starting a plastic-free Halesworth campaign.
The Coronavirus pandemic behaviour responses have shown that people
are willing to accept radical changes. While the Government’s main
focus is on economic growth and a return to full employment, this is
our chance to make sure that how this is done is sustainable and for
the long term. We have an enormous and important opportunity. To that
end we are working on a variety of projects, locally and nationally,
to work to Build Back Better.
Waveney Green Party is part of this river system, linking Halesworth
Greens, Beccles Green Party and Bungay Green Party.
You are welcome to join us – come to our open meetings, or join one of
our projects.
