Greens welcome new direct bus service between Beccles and the James Paget Hospital

A direct bus service between Beccles and the James Paget Hospital is a long held ambition of the Green Party in Beccles. In the Beccles South by-election in 2012 and the County Council election in 2013 it was a specific election pledge to try and get this service implemented. The plea for the bus service also came from public transport campaigning group ESTA and from residents of Beccles. We are delighted to report that the pleas have been heard by Anglia Buses and a direct service started in January 2014. There will be minor changes to the timetable on 24 February 2014 and the official launch of the service is being delayed until that date. The Green Party will then help promote the use of this service by delivering a timetable to every house in Beccles.

Nicky Elliott, Green Party Councillor on Beccles Town Council, said "We are delighted to see this direct service being introduced. It will provide a real alternative to the private car for many Beccles people when attending routine appointments or visiting family at the hospital."
