3rd March 2011 - Greens take MP on Cycling Tour of Beccles

Peter Aldous MP joined forces with Green Party Councillor Graham Elliott and Green Party member Sue Bergin in her capacity as trustee of Beccles and Bungay Cycle Strategy (BBCS) for a tour of the Beccles and Worlingham cycle network. The aim was to demonstrate some of the many achievements made by the BBCS over the last 14 years, to show current projects and to highlight problem areas that might benefit from the MP's assistance. A detailed briefing note and map was prepared with 25 stopping points for explanation and discussion.

The current priorities for the local Green Party and BBCS are creating safer cycling routes from Beccles and Worlingham to the Ellough Industrial Estate and safer cycling routes into Beccles town centre. Peter Aldous was shown many examples of what has already been achieved but also a number of areas where further action is required to make cycling safe and attractive.
