East Suffolk Green Party born, with Fun(ding) event

The merger of Waveney and Suffolk Coastal into East Suffolk Green Party was agreed at the end of 2024, and the inaugural meeting took place 11 January 2025 at the Cut Halesworth. Over 50 people were in attendance and more came later for the celebration.

The joint chairs Andrew Eastaugh and Julian Cusack  opened the meeting with a welcome, reminding us of some of the reasons for merger defined by the current boundaries of East Suffolk District.
We can work together, pool resources like social media and outreach and be more effective in local elections. Julian thanked all the people involved in this transition, outlined the proposed draft constitution, and explained the concept of the transitional executive. We will in due course hold an AGM meeting for the East Suffolk Green Party to elect a fully constituted committee. It is a huge area, Lowestoft to Felixstowe. However, we will carry on working how we currently work in our successful organically grown groups.

This was the first showing on a large screen, after Rupert transferred to cinema ready media.
Rupert Herries – one of the great unsung English eccentrics, played and sang his songs, inspirationally (and with a tooth abscess)
