I joined the Greens to help build a more environmentally sustainable and caring society. I look forward to finding solutions to issues by signposting effectively to support and services in Suffolk through my casework and community interests.’
Annette has lived in Halesworth with her family for over twenty years and cares passionately about Suffolk. Having worked as a Parliamentary Caseworker for both current sitting MPs in Waveney and Suffolk Coastal, she has a good knowledge of the area and its residents. Her rich experience of listening and understanding local needs is also enhanced by working for the Suffolk Charity, The Rural Coffee Caravan, as a Community Engagement and Rural Energy Officer. In this role, she helps to connect people from rural and isolated communities.
An active member of Suffolk County Council
In May 2021 Annette was elected onto Suffolk County Council as the Councillor for the Halesworth Division. From 2021-2023 she was the GLI (Green Lib Dem and Independent) spokesperson for Achieving Net Zero Carbon.
In May 2023 Annette was elected as Deputy Leader of the GLI Group at Suffolk County Council and the Group Spokesperson for the Economy and Property. She has a committee appointment on the Individual Cases Committee since May 2021 and also substitutes for Education and Children’s Services, Scrutiny and Pension Fund committees. Annette is also the only GLI representative on the Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service Steering Group and Joint Forum and is a member of the Wangford Quarry Liaison Group.
Community work in Halesworth
As well as Suffolk County Council, Annette is also a town councillor for Halesworth and has previously twice held the office of Chair of the Full Council. She has also Chaired both the Finance and Communication committees. Currently she is a member of both the Finance and Governance and the Leisure and Environment committees. Her council representation on outside bodies includes being a Trustee for Halesworth Unappropriated Estates and United Charities, also Halesworth Community Sport and Leisure (HCSL). Annette also sits on two East Suffolk Council Community Partnerships – Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and Villages and Carlton Colville, Kessingland, Southwold and Villages.
