Kessingland Greens

May 2023 Elections: All candidates neck and neck with Greens on 30% in Kessingland!

Jon Coxon stood for the Kessingland seat on East Suffolk Council in the May 2023 elections.

Jon Coxon increased the Green Party vote by 101 to 318 in May 4th’s local election, but it wasn’t quite enough to stop Labour’s Alan Green from taking the seat from the Conservative’s Letitia Smith. However there were only 80 votes between all three parties, the Green Party’s vote share is increasing .

A huge thank you to all our supporters who voted for us, delivered news letters and put up posters. We are on the move up!

Jon served in the Army before finding a career in healthcare. Jon has a keen interest in nature, sustainable living and engineering.

“Kessingland’s wild beaches and green spaces are a real asset that need to be protected. I am working hard to fight against inappropriate development that will destroy our beautiful countryside and put even more pressure on already stretched services. Conservative councillors are told how to vote by their party and cannot stand up against these developers. Myself and the Green Party are free to stand up for and work hard for Kessingland.”

So if you want an independent councillor who will stick up for Kessingland, vote Green for Jon. With a wave of council seats coming to the Green Party from the Conservatives, Jon is the only real alternative to the Conservatives on May 4th.

We’ve recently started in Kessingland and looking for more supporters to help with leaflets, canvassing and more. Even if you can only give a few hours here and there, it all helps. If you want to help out, contact us using the form below.

Across Suffolk, we’ve shown that when we campaign seriously, we win. You could be a part of that.

Our members helped campaign against this proposed development that seeks to ignore the democratically created Neighbourhood Plan. We’re now waiting for the planning application. We’ll be ready to campaign again when that happens.
